They had to play it with the neighbors children as well as with daddy when he came home from work.

What you do is put a strip of masking tape or painters tape on the floor for each person playing, don’t forget yourself!

You begin by telling everyone what to do on the tape for example put your elbow on Mr. tape or jump on Mr. tape.

If able to, allow the children to take turns dictating what everyone should do with Mr. Tape.

For some babies sitting independently comes naturally, for others it takes a lot of practice. No matter which category your baby falls into, these exercises can help strengthen your baby’s back and neck muscles to encourage independent sitting.

  • Tummy time is the first step to helping your baby strengthen her neck muscles. By 4 months old she will probably be able to lift her head and chest up to look around. If she is unable to do this at 6 months old you may want to discuss this with your doctor.
  • Bumbo chairs and Boppy pillows help your baby learn to sit up by providing enough support that they can sit up without toppling over.
  • Hold his little hands while he sits on his bottom with his legs in v shape. This could be a good way to help an older sibling feel important by helping the baby learn to sit.

    2. Running – Usually a few months after learning how to walk.
    3. Jumping – Most children are able to jump by 2 and half years old.
    4. Balancing on one foot – Typically between 3 and half to 4 years old.
    5. Hopping on one foot -  Around 4 years old.
    6. Skipping – Usually between 4 to 6 years old.

    One is to give the children two colourful scarves and encourage them to fly around like butterflies. This would be perfect activity for a pre-school class to do during a unit on butterflies.
