This is a great activity that can be adapted for a variety of ages.
Parents could teach children about their cultural background and have their children help them make a dish from that culture or participate in a cultural holiday.

Get to know your neighborhood! Take your children on a walk around the neighborhood and point out different buildings - churches, post office, grocery stores etc…

Have a tree cutout and apple cutouts. Have the top row of apples with the child and their siblings names on each apple, the next row for parents and then grandparents etc…

Using pictures of community helpers or visiting some, teach children about their career’s and why they are important. Encourage children to talk about experiences they have had with those community helpers. Here is a great site for patterns for children to make their own community Helpers.
