String Feeding For The Birds

Spring is here and this is a wonderful way to spend some quality time outside with your children learning about birds.

String bits of food – such as bread, nuts, or popcorn on a thin string or thread. Space the food several inches apart and tack both ends of the string to a tree trunk or limb. Watch the birds and see which foods they like the most.

Sensory Game For Baby

Research shows that positive sensory experiences coupled with social interaction contributes to a baby’s cognitive abilities. Lightly blow, touch or kiss a baby’s body part and in a singsong voice tell baby what that body part is. Ex. These are baby’s hands.

You can use the poem below for this activity:

Hello: With your face close to baby’s face say this poem:

Hello, hello, I love you very much.

Hello, hello my fingers they can touch.

Hello, hello, I’ll touch your little nose (touch baby’s nose)

Hello, hello, I’ll kiss your little nose (kiss baby’s nose)

Repeat this poem using other body parts, ears, cheek, toes etc…

Water Designs on Sidewalk Chalk Art

The weather is warming up and what better way to let your children show their creativity through colouring than to have them colour on the driveway or sidewalks. Spray your childrens artwork with water from a pump bottle to create a cool water design on the chalk art.

Materials: Coloured chalk and plastic pump bottles. Fill the pump bottles with water. Have the children colour the sidewalk with coloured chalk and then have them spray water over it with the pump bottle. This will make a water design on the chalk.

Tithing Box

Teach your children the importance of paying one 10th of their allowance or other money they recieve and have your children decorate a small box that they can use to put coins in for their tithing. This box will be special to them because they made it themselves.

*Edit* This is an activity mainly for those who give tithing to their church. If you would like your child to put a certain percentage of their earnings towards a charity or something else that would also be a great thing to make a ‘money box’ for.
