I found this chant in a Scholastic’s flier. My kids enjoy clapping to this chant to remind themselves to use good manners:

We’ve got manners,
Yes we do. We’ve got
manners, how about you?

We say thank you,
Yes we do. We say
thank you, how about you?

We say excuse me,
Yes we do. We say
excuse me, how about you?

You can use other polite words such please, sorry, your welcome etc…

The Words Your Child Needs To Know To Become A Fluent Reader

Here is a list of the 220 sight words that your child needs to learn to become a fluent reader. This list is commonly referred to as the Dolch list. These words are the 220 most common words in books.

The words are grouped into different levels, not necessarily the corresponding grade. If you have a 3 year old or 4 year old that is ready to read go ahead and help her memorize the words and once the Pre-primer list is mastered go onto the Primer list and so on. Memorizing this list as well as phonetic activities will help your child become a fluent reader.

5 Skills Children Build From Putting Together Jigsaw Puzzles

My 4 year old and 3 year old girls love puzzles especially 100 + pieces princess puzzles. They are such good friends working on puzzles together and in addition to keeping them occupied it is great to know that they are building important educational skills.

Block Building Activity

Here is a fun play activity for your child. Build simple objects with blocks and have your child copy what you built. For toddlers start with stacking two or three blocks on top of each other and as your child is able to copy very simple designs gradually move onto more complicated designs that require more blocks. You can also have your child follow a pattern with different shapes and or colours.
